Racking Inspection
Racking damage can occur at any time, so users must ensure that any damage found is reported immediately to the person responsible for racking safety. Therefore operatives within the warehouse should have some basic knowledge of the risks of racking damage.
However, to ensure that all damage is routinely identified there is a requirement to undertake regular inspections by a competent person. This is a person who has an awareness of racking damage tolerances and categories as defined by SEMA and HSE codes.
These inspections should be a frequency that takes account of the levels of activiy within the warehouse and historic levels of damage. Additional, annual Surveys should be undertaken by a suitabiy qulaified inspector as an audit of routine inspections.
In most modern fast moving warehouses this often involves weekly inspections. Rarely would an interval between inspections of more than 4 weeks be acceptable to the HSE. These routine inspections can be further supported by annual inspections by a qualified inspector. this is someone with specific knowledge and has either extensive experience of racking and or has been suitably trained.
We offer an intermediate 30 point safety and compliance check, with a written report. This gives a very quick and cost effective means of identifying any problems and 'advisory' action points - your own racking MOT!
